He made his NEXTEL Cup debut in 2005, driving the #00 State Fair Corn Dogs Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Michael Waltrip.
Born in Zephyrhills, Florida, Reutimann is a third-generation racer. His racing career began in dirt-track modifieds and late models, before the driver moved up to the Slim Jim All Pro Series in 1997. Reutimann finished in the top-ten eight times and had a fifth-place finish. He was also named rookie of the year.
In 2002, he made his Busch Series debut at Richmond driving the #87 Geico Chevrolet Monte Carlo for NEMCO Motorsports.
In 2004, he signed on with Waltrip Motorsports to race in the Craftsman Truck Series. He won the pole in his second race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and had four top-five finishes. He also finished 14th in points, earning him rookie of the year honors. He won his first career race at Nashville Superspeedway in 2005.
