| | By Tom Jensen / SPEED.com HARRISBURG, NC -- Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Richard Childress, Kyle Petty, Michael Waltrip, Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray, Dave Blaney, David Stremme, Max Angelelli and Wayne Taylor are among the racing stars scheduled to participate in the third-annual Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by SunTrust.
The event, a unique, interactive fan festival that combines stars of country music and NASCAR in a day-long, event-filled celebration of sound and speed, takes place Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at the Sommet Center in Nashville.
Proceeds benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. In its first two years, the event has raised more than $500,000 for the organizations.
Schedule highlights include a Backstage Garage Pass session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. This will include autograph sessions, storytelling and fan Q&A sessions with participating NASCAR and country music celebrities on the Sommet Center floor and concourse. Also includes NASCAR show car and sponsor displays, as well as a charitable auction with memorabilia from the racing and entertainment industries.
The Country Concert takes place at 8 p.m. CST – Multi-platinum Grammy-winning artist Alan Jackson, special guest Taylor Swift, with Jason Michael Carroll.
