Roger: Tony Stewart’s stinker at Atlanta has tightened up our race, Vinnie, but there’s no way I can go wrong with Jeff Gordon. He’s every bit the MVP Steve Nash is in this town, with 14 top 10 finishes in 17 career Phoenix races.
Sleeper: Martin Truex.
Not so fast: Greg Biffle.
Vinnie: I’m not about to let up now. Pit Box and NASCAR are all about winning, so I’m going with Jimmie Johnson as my penultimate pick of the season. He’s ready to get his first win at Phoenix after three top fives in eight races.
Sleeper: Bobby Labonte.
Not so fast: Ryan Newman.
Last week: Vinnie took Johnson for the fourth time in five weeks – Surprise! – and picked up another win. Roger’s pick, Clint Bowyer, struggled and finished 19th. That spread was enough for Vinnie to leap past Roger into the lead with two races to go – and, one would suspect, two more opportunities to pick Johnson.
Standings after 34 races: Vinnie: 4,678; Roger: 4,623.
