Roger: Clint Bowyer is the only RCR driver who has a shot to win the Chase. Lucky for him, teammate Jeff Burton won the spring race at Texas.
If Burton knows any secrets to make his car go fast, Bowyer will know them, too.
Sleeper: Casey Mears.
Not so fast: Kyle Busch.
Vinnie: Jimmie Johnson has never won at Texas. Neither has teammate Jeff Gordon, the guy he’s chasing in the Chase. Gordon was better than Johnson in the spring race, but the time is now for Johnson to make his move.
Sleeper: Martin Truex.
Not so fast: Ryan Newman.
Last week: Vinnie stepped off the Johnson train and went with Carl Edwards, who finished second to Johnson at Atlanta. Roger’s pick Tony Stewart, finished 30th. As a result, Vinnie took a big bite out of Roger’s once meaty lead with three races remaining.
Standings through 33 races: Roger: 4,512; Vinnie: 4,488.
