| | Primary Sponsor: Target Manufacturer: Dodge Car Owner: Chip Ganassi Team: Chip Ganassi Racing Reed Sorenson, currently the driver of the No. 41 Dodge for Chip Ganassi Racing, started racing quarter midgets when he was just 6 years old. He set qualifying records at the East and West Coast Nationals in 1996.
In 1997, Sorenson won the Quarter Midget National Championship. He went on to win nine Southeastern championships and set 15 different track records by the time he finished up his quarter midget career.
Next up for Sorenson was Legend cars, where he earned 84 wins, 152 top-five and 166 top-10 finishes in five seasons.
In 2002, Sorenson racked up seven top-10s in just eight starts after moving up to the American Speed Association Series in 2002. He became the youngest ASA rookie of the year in 2003 – when he was just 17 years old – finishing fourth in the national standings.
Sorenson ran a full schedule in the Busch Series in 2005, winning at Nashville and Gateway. He had 12 top-five and 19 top-10 finishes in 35 races.
Sorenson participated in his first Cup race in 2005, and then ran entire NEXTEL cup season in 2006, at the same time driving the No. 41 Discount Tire Co. Dodge in the Busch Series. His best 2006 Cup season finish was fifth place at Michigan International Speedway, and he finished the season 24th in the point standings.
He continues to drive the No. 41 in the Cup Series in 2007, and shares the No. 41 Busch Series driving duties with teammate David Stremme.
