| | Diego Mejia / Austosport.com Chip Ganassi racing will only field two cars in this weekend's Sprint All-Star Challenge after withdrawing the No.40 entry for Dario Franchitti from the event.
As Franchitti continues to heal from his left-ankle fracture suffered three weeks ago at Talladega, the team have withdrawn his car after initially including it on the official entry list for the Sprint Showdown qualifying race on Saturday.
Team officials would not yet confirm whether Franchitti will be able to take part in the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25, hoping that would be the case after announcing on Wednesday a new sponsorship deal with Nintendo Wii Fit for his car for that event.
Juan Pablo Montoya is the only Ganassi driver guaranteed the start on the All-Star Challenge, having qualified through being a race winner last year at Sears Point, where he scored his maiden Sprint Cup Series win.
Reed Sorenson will race for Ganassi in the Sprint Showdown, hoping to finish first or second in order to make the field for the main event next Saturday.
