STILL CAN DO IT
Limited schedule for 2009 hasn't dampened team spirit

From Staff Reports
Tuesday's announcement that Furniture Row Racing will run a limited schedule in 2009 hasn't dampened the team's enthusiasm for this weekend's Sprint Cup season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

"No question, it was a difficult announcement, which was dictated by the current economic downturn," said team president Joe Garone. "This is a closely knit team and we thought it was important to inform the crew before the final race. Though some of the crew won't be part of the team next year, the spirit for the final race is high due to the camaraderie we've always enjoyed."

The Denver, Colo.-based Furniture Row Racing team with driver Joe Nemechek qualified in 31 of the 35 races contested in 2008. It was by far the best season in the organization's three-year history. The previous team high for season starts was 21. Nemechek also captured the pole at the Talladega race in April.

"No doubt, we've made huge gains this year and want to finish off the season with a strong result," added Garone.

The 1.5-mile Homestead oval has been a good venue for Nemechek. The Lakeland, Fla. native is a three-time winner at Homestead in the Nationwide Series division and recorded a runner-up finish in the 2002 Cup race. He also finished sixth in his only truck event at Homestead in 2006.

"It's important for everyone on this Furniture Row team to finish the season off strong," noted Nemechek. "We stumbled last week in Phoenix, but I am confident that we'll rebound at Homestead."
