Kyle Busch doesn’t think momentum matters that much heading into the Chase For The NASCAR Sprint Cup - unless it comes in the form of victories.
Each win is worth 10 bonus points in the Chase, and to the series points leader, that’s the important thing.
“The wins mean more than the strong finishes,” said Busch, who already has locked up top seeding in NASCAR’s postseason with eight victories and 80 bonus points. “I mean, yeah, it’s a morale boost maybe if you’re finishing top-five all the way up to the Chase, but that can be derailed in two races anyway.
“It’d be a lot more fun to have more wins under our belt getting into the Chase, but we’ve got a lot now, and, hopefully, we can still get some in the Chase.”
Busch said failing to win the championship after the year he has had so far would be a disappointment, but he’s philosophical about his prospects.
“We’ve had a lot of excellent success,” Busch said. “If it comes down to something out of our [control], then it wasn’t meant to be. All we can do is hope for the best and keep working as hard as we can.”
