| | From FOXSports.com It may have snowed early Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but Greg Biffle turned up the heat in the afternoon by pacing the final Sprint Cup Series practice session before the Kobalt Tools 500 on Sunday (1:30 p.m. ET on FOX).
The driver of the No. 16 Roush Fenway Ford held off teammate Carl Edwards at the top of the charts with a fast lap of 184.229 mph during the extended 90-minute session.
"The Jackson Hewitt Ford Fusion car is running good," said Biffle. "(Crew chief) Greg (Erwin) and all the guys, everybody back at the shop at Roush Fenway are doing a great job for us. All of our cars are running good and I'm real excited about that.
"(The race) is certainly gonna be a crapshoot. These tires don't have a lot of grip, everybody knows that, but then with the temperature going from 40 degrees to 60 and sunny, the track is gonna be tremendously slick. It's gonna be like a big Darlington. You're gonna have to slow down a lot in the corners and feather the gas back through it."
Edwards, the winner of the last two races on the Sprint Cup circuit, finished just behind with a best speed of 184.064 mph during his 59 laps run in the session.
Clint Bowyer, Ryan Newman and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five speeds.
Yesterday's practice pacesetter, Dale Earnhardt Jr., was seventh best in Happy Hour while polesitter Jeff Gordon was 11th quickest.
