| | By Rea White / SceneDaily.com CONCORD, NC -- At December's Roush Fenway Racing Christmas party, driver Greg Biffle was given a small plaque to commemorate his 10 years of service to the organization.
Biffle said he proudly displays it in his office, and the amount of time he's spent with Roush Fenway is a major reason he would like his tenure there to continue once his current contract expires at the end of this season.
"You know, where [else] am I going to go?" Biffle said Thursday during the NASCAR Sprint Cup media tour. "If I had an opportunity to go drive for [Rick] Hendrick, that might be a tough decision for me to make. Obviously, we all know that opportunity isn't there and doesn't exist because he had to boot one of his drivers [Kyle Busch] to get the one [Dale Earnhardt Jr.] he has now.
"Other than that - I think there's only about three other teams that are on our tier of competition. I'm certainly not going to take a step backwards in terms of competition for a monetary value. I want to win a championship. I'm going to win a championship. I'm going to win a title, I just don't want to start over somewhere else in the opportunity to try and win a title."
Biffle said he was currently "working hard" on an extension with Roush Fenway.
"We're trading ideas back and forth right now," he said. "We're not going to let that take any of our focus, but we are working on it to try and come up with an agreement until 2012 or something. That'll put me here for the rest of my [career]."
Roush Fenway must reduce its five-driver Sprint Cup lineup to four following the 2009 season, but Biffle said he wasn't concerned that he would be the one to go.
"Who would you get rid of?" he said. "We came 35 points from winning the [2005] title, and if it wasn't for the tire guy leaving the wheel loose, we'd have another [Cup] trophy out there, and I'd be getting past champions provisionals, and I'd have a big trophy in my front room."
