| | The Associated Press DARLINGTON, SC -- Darlington Raceway president Chris Browning is expecting the track's fourth straight sellout this weekend for the Dodge Challenger 500.
Browning says a sellout would be a testament to loyal fans of the track, which first hosted a NASCAR race in 1950. Race tracks throughout the country are finding higher prices for gas and food have cut down the discretionary income normally used for sports events.
Race fans in the area also have other choices. Lowe's Motor Speedway outside Charlotte, N.C., will host two weekends of NASCAR racing later in the month.
