| | By SceneDaily Staff MARTINSVILLE, VA -- After a slow start to the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, Clint Bowyer has clearly reversed his fortunes.
In the first three races of 2008, the driver of Richard Childress Racing's No. 07 Chevrolet finished 24th, 19th and 28th, leading only four laps. But after a top-10 finish in Sunday's Goodys’ Cool Orange 500 at Martinsville Speedway, Bowyer has finished sixth, third and 10th in the last three races.
And though he didn’t lead a lap Sunday, he has led 133 laps in the last three events.
On Martinsville’s half-mile track, Bowyer started 12th and spent many laps in the top five before slipping in the closing stages.
"We run better than that,” Bowyer said of his finish. “I was hoping for a top-five there for a little while; it just wasn't meant to be. It was good points day for us. It is what we needed, so I am happy. It was pretty rough out there, it was wild."
The top of the Sprint Cup standings are so tight that Bowyer fell three spots to 12th despite his top-10 finish.
