| | | | | | Fantasy picks for the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway
Reid Spencer, Bill Marx and Roger Kuznia of the Sporting News are matching wits in the Pit box in 2008. The rules are different this year.
They can pick a driver only once during the season. But for good measure, each also will pick his favorite to win the race.
Reid’s pick: Jamie McMurray. The fifth wheel at Roush Fenway Racing was seventh fastest in Friday's practice, and with qualifying rained out, McMurray will start in the front half of the field. What more can you ask for?
Who Reid really thinks will win: Kevin Harvick. He's on a roll, and he'll take the momentum from a Richmond win into the Chase.
Roger’s pick: Clint Bowyer. Richard Childress Racing does well at Richmond, and that's why I like Bowyer. Yes, he has the added pressure of trying to make the Chase, but he won here in May and has finished no worse than 12th in five Richmond races. He should stay out of trouble and give me the solid finish I seek.
Who Roger really thinks will win: Jimmie Johnson. He won this race last year, and I see no reason he won't repeat.
Bill’s pick: Kyle Busch. Why not? Start 'em if you got 'em.
Who Bill really thinks will win: I like Reid's pick -- a lot. I am in full agreement on Harvick. But rather than be a copycat, I'm going with Denny Hamlin. He has done everything but win a Cup race at Richmond. So why not this weekend?
Last Week
Bravo to Roger. We have a new leader. Roger unseated Reid when Jimmie Johnson won at Fontana. Reid's pick, AJ Allmendinger, finished a respectable 14th, but Roger easily erased Reid's two-point lead. Juan Pablo Montoya finished 20th for Bill. In the real picks, Roger picked up 45 points on Bill and Reid. He went with Johnson, while Bill and Reid went with Carl Edwards, who finished sixth.
Points standings
One and done: Reid, 2,900; Roger, 2,898; Bill, 2,798
Real picks: Bill, 3,644; Reid, 3,522; Roger, 3,269.
